Song of the Week #46

Following on from last week’s eulogy to Mark Lanegan, we move swiftly onto another - sorry to keep the tone down whilst everybody’s still on Easter Hols. We actually heard the news about Taylor Hawkins - RIP - when myself and Alex were exhibiting at the Liverpool gin festival. Had we the time, we’d have slung banners all over the stall in mourning.

Taylor contributed to some of the most iconic rock music around the millennium, and as many people said when he died, to become a legendary rock drummer in a band that already has one, is no mean feat.

I won’t pretend that Foo Fighters were one of my favourite bands growing up, but I, like many of you, will have a few favourite tracks from them that you turn the volume up for when they come on shuffle. A lesser known one of those is Stranger Things Have Happened, I love the acoustic guitar solo on that track. But as for another, you could probably have taken a good guess. Bringing up the energy for a devastating event. Taken too soon Taylor. This is Monkey Wrench - raise a gin.
