Song of the Week #43

On the Boxing Day drive back from London up North, I’d struck a deal with my dearest other half in the weeks leading up to the festive period, that in exchange for letting her listen to Christmas songs on the drive down, I would get to listen to the radio coverage as Leeds United played Liverpool away (for an inevitable hammering). Covid sidelined that match, which meant we had a good 3 hours or so to fill with music instead.

It was her suggestion actually to give something ‘new’ a whirl, that we didn’t normally listen to. This was exactly that, and whilst I (like you, I’m sure) knew their very biggest hits, I’d never done much of The Clash before. You know what? They’re pretty fucking decent. The back catalogue is solid as a rock, and this week’s Song of the Week is exactly that. Again, keeping it fairly short this week - in part this time because I don’t know enough about them to waffle on for a few more paragraphs. This section of the website is dedicated to music anyway, and the rest is dedicated to gin.

If you decide that this song doesn’t tickle your fancy, go pick up a t shirt or a bottle of gin instead!

White Riot by The Clash - enjoy!
