Song of the Week #22

As the year draws to a close (although we are some way off quite yet), it’s amazing to look back at what has happened. Alex & I finally after years of setbacks managed to release the first batch of Sinner’s Gin, the UK whipped out covid-19 vaccines at a fanatic rate, and of course, plenty of music got released and bands & DJ’s started returning to live shows. (I’m hoping myself to finally end the drought and see this weeks SOTW artist live at some point, despite the pandemic cancelling my best efforts thus far)

We thought with 2021 coming to an end, we’d pick ourselves a favourite track for the year, and a favourite album (to follow next week). Perhaps we’re jumping the gun a bit on this one, but inevitably, we’re the ones writing the blogs here at Sinner’s, so deal with it!

There was so much music to recap over 2021, picking a favourite song was an incredibly hard task, so I narrowed it down to the genre that encapsulates Sinner’s the best - metal. What was my favourite metal track that got released this year? Its still a tough choice, but I would be daft not to tip my dad cap to the French kingpins Gojira. I’m sure you’ll have heard this already, but if not, it hit me like a sucker punch when it first got released early in the year, and the ode to the environment in the lyrics is an amazing piece of songwriting in of itself (excluding everything else Gojira bring to the table).

Sit back, pour a G&T and enjoy Amazonia.
